What's the difference between Importacular Insights and Importacular NXT?

Importacular Insights allows you to see and report on all the imports you have done in Importacular in the database view

Importacular NXT is our new importing tool that works with and from within RE NXT's webview

There are two versions of Importacular NXT: Importacular NXT and Importacular NXT (Free Version). I'm a paying Importacular Classic user, which version should I use?

Since Importacular NXT is cloud-based, an import costs processing time that is charged by the cloud-server's hosts. This means the pricing structure for Importacular NXT has to be different then that of Importacular Classic. If you currently pay below the £1,200/$1980 threshold for Classic, we can't grant you access to the paid-for version of Importacular NXT without an uplift to meet that amount.

If you pay more than this threshold or are unsure, please contact development@zeidman.info

If you would just like to try out the early access version of Importacular NXT or you only need to add/update less than 500 records, consider using Importacular NXT (Free Version)

Why is there a limit to the number of records I can add/update when using Importacular NXT (Free Version)?

Every record that is processed by Importacular NXT incurs a cost charged by cloud services. Zeidman Development is donating the cost of processing 500 records for each Organisation using the Free Version.

What's the difference between looking up data and fetching data?

Fetching data is fetching data from the data source.

Looking up data is determining the matches based on your Matching Rules

Where have the field settings gone?

These have been split up into two separate columns:

Field Update Conditions for selecting how new and existing records should be updated. This also includes Conditional Update Values.

Field Manipulations for choosing how to clean up and manipulate the incoming data to make it compliant with your RE. This includes Text Casing, Date Format Transformations and Data Transformations

How can I change my Criteria Sets?

We have renamed them in the hopes to make things easier to understand. Rather than having a Criteria Set that contains a number of other Criteria Sets, we have renamed it so that we now have a 'Record Lookups', that contain a number of 'Matching Rules'. What's more, rather than a one-size fits all approach, when we release the Relationship Data Destinations (individual relationships, Organisation Relationship, Solicitor/Canvassers, and Tributes) you will be able to build or select a Record Lookup with their own unique set of Matching Rules for each relationship you add to your template. Giving you more control and a better understanding of what is happening.

Can I use the same templates I have in Importacular (Classic) with Importacular NXT?

Yes, you can. We have an Importacular Classic Template Converter in the Template Manager section.

If your Classic Template contains local Data Transformation, there is a Data Transformation tool in Importacular Classic's Template Manager that will convert local Transformations in to Organisation Transformation. We recommend you run your Classic Template through this tool before exporting it and running it through the Template Converter in NXT.

As we are sure you are aware, not every field in Database View is present in Webview and vice-versa so you will still need to review the 'imported' templates in Importacular NXT, before you try to import with it. The Template Converter will highlight specific areas for your to review. We would also recommend you treat the converted template as a new template and test it out on a handful of sample records to be on the safe side.

Also, not every Data Destination will be available straight away. If your template contains mapping to a Data Destination that isn't currently available, the Converter will convert what it can and leave out the data destinations that have yet to be implemented

Can I validate my template before I import?

We have provided more tools at the Template Building stage and in the Import Review stage to help you better understand what data is due to be imported, hopefully reducing the need for a validation stage, thus speeding up the process.

It may be worth highlighting that Blackbaud's SKY API behaves very differently to the Database View API and import validation isn't something that the SKY API provides. If we were to provide one, we would have to built it up over time and may behave differently to what is on Classic.

Can I adjust my Record Lookup, specific to the data I'm importing?

Yes, we have made it very easy to edit adjust an existing Record Lookup or clone one from within the Template Builder.

Will I be able to schedule my imports?

Yes. We hope to introduce by the end of Q1 2026

I see all the field settings that I am use to, but where are all the Area Settings?

They are all present as well as some new ones for you to consider. Please do explore each Area Setting to find out more

Why can't I add an Address Custom Field?

Blackbaud have not included Address Custom Fields in their SKY API. As such, it is not an area we can provide.

What about a Control Report?

We have replaced Control Reports with a 'Results' section on the completed import card. This Results section gives you details on any exceptions that may have happened. What's more, you can select specific records that have been ignored or have exceptions and choose to 're-import' them. Re-importing takes you to a pre-populated Import Creator where you can chose to select a different template, edit the existing template, or clone a template to make adjustments on.
