You can use Raiser's Edge's Alias feature to store a 3rd Party ID number and have Importacular find suitable matches using that ID.

One of the great benefits of using Importacular is that you do not have to worry about making sure that your data source contains Constituent IDs or Import IDs. Instead, Importacular's Criteria Sets allow you to find matching records based on a data subject's biographical information.

However, sometimes you might find it useful to match on your Data Source's ID number instead. In order to do this, the Data Source's ID needs to live within the Raiser's Edge records, but can't be Raiser's Edges' Constituent IDs or Import IDs. This is where the the Alias feature comes in to play.

Start by creating a suitable Alias Type in your RE Alias Code Table. Call it something like '[data source name]ID'.

When you have done that, head to Importacular, load up the relevant data source and template and map the Data Source's ID number to the new Alias Type in the Alias Mapping Area.

Next, head to the Area Settings for the Constituent Area Mapping and select the option to 'Look up by Alias...':

When that box is checked, save and then go into the Constituent Area Mapping. Here you will see a new field called 'Alias search (Lookup ID) that allows you to assign the 3rd Party ID into the Constituent so that Importacular can use it as a 'look up' field.

Finally, head to your Criteria Sets and either add or amend the top Criteria Set to look up by Alias:
