If you have set 'Solicitor/Canvasser' as a required field for Actions within your Raiser's Edge, you will needed to apply a Application setting within Importacular.

This new setting asks you to select a 'default' record to be applied to the Action, should a Solicitor/Canvasser not be present in the importing data source.

Firstly, create a new Constituent in your RE and make sure they are marked as a Solicitor/Canvasser in their Bio 1 tab. We recommend a strong naming convention here so you know for sure that the record is your Default Action Solicitor.

Once the record is created, head to Importacular, add your data and select the template as normal. Then, from within the template, head to 'File>Application settings'. A window will appear with four tabs.

The fourth tab is called 'Solicitor' or 'Canvasser', depending on your country setting. This will only appear if you have made 'Solicitor/Canvasser' as a mandatory field.

In the Constituent field, use the binoculars to find your newly created default Action Solicitor record. If it doesn't appear, it might mean that you did not check the 'is a solicitor' field in Bio 1 of their record.

Click save and and carry on your Import as before.

When you get to the review screen, you will be able to look in the 'Solicitor/Canvasser' tab and manage your 'create', 'update', 'ignores' and 'decides' as well as double-check that the 'default Action Solicitor' is not being added.

Once your import has completed, you may wish to run a query within your Raiser's Edge to look for any Actions with have the 'default' record assigned as that Action's Solicitor/Canvasser' and manage the results accordingly.
