When building or adjusting your templates, you may be at a loss when trying to determine what information is contained in the fields you are trying to map to your Raiser's Edge. Depending on the Data Source you are using, some of the field names may be very similar to each other, but the information they contain may be vastly different to your needs. Your organisation may have also set up 'custom fields' that only your organisation will understand.

We recommend you go directly to the Data Source to investigate what the fields are, what they contain and your organisations own records.

In addition to this, you can also use the Export and Anonymise Tool from within Importacular to export a sample of your data, from your selected Data Source, into a .xlsx file and explore your data that way.

  • Open up Importacular and select the Data Source you wish to explore.

  • When the Data Source window opens, you will be invited to set the parameters (date range, etc.). It will then gather up all the data, based on your parameters and you will be taken to the 'Import Data Source' window.

  • From here, go to the 'File' menu and you will find the 'Export and Anonymise Data' tool. Click on it.

  • Ignore the options to anonymise any of the fields and go straight to the 'Export Data' button.

  • You will then be invited to select a location and name for the exported file that you are about to create.

Once the file is created, open it up and you should be able to determine what the fields are, based on the data they contain.

NOTE: This tool was primarily designed to help anonymise your data for Data Protection reasons, prior to sending it to Zeidman to help with a support ticket. However, since you are not sending it to Zeidman, you do not need to anonymise any fields.
