From Version 5.4 of Importacular, you can now choose to map and import a Gift to Raiser's Edge based on the condition that the constituent is new, existing or both (the default position). You do this by going into the Gift Mapping Area Settings, heading to Gift 2 tab and unticking/unchecking the relevant option in the 'Add Gift if...' section.
How might this be used?
When importing gifts, you might wish to treat Gifts from New Constituents differently from how you treat Gifts from Existing Constituent. Perhaps you might wish to issue different Funds or Appeals, add a different Gift Reference or apply different Gift Attributes.
In any of these instances, create a Gift Mapping and apply the relevant fields for your new Constituents. Once created, open the Gift Mapping Area Settings, head to the Gift 2 tab and untick/uncheck 'the constituent record is existing' in the 'Add Gift if..' section.
Once that is done, create a second Gift Mapping (to save time, you can right-click on the first Gift Mapping and select 'Duplicate' from the small dropdown menu that appears). To ensure clarity, give the second Gift Mappings a very distinct name from the first and apply/adjust the relevant fields for Existing Constituents. Once the Second Gift Mapping is created and up to date, head to that Gift Mapping Area Setting, then Gift 2 tab and untick/uncheck 'the constituent record is new' in the 'Add Gift if..' section.
If it doesn't matter whether your constituent is new or existing in your database, you do not need to create two separate Gift Mappings as the 'Add Gits if...' section is defaulted to the condition of adding both types of constituents.
