Importacular uses Criteria Sets to match the constituents in your data source to the records that exist in the Raiser's Edge.  While we have included default Criteria Sets to help you get started, you may find that your import requires changes in order for you to match to the records in your database.

Some common changes:

  • If you have multiple constituents who share email addresses, you may want to require the set for email address to match to both first name and email address.
  • To capture variations of names (such as Robert, Rob, Bob, Bobby, etc.), you may want to add the First Name Equivalents as well as the Nickname option.
  • To capture variations of an address line (such as Boulevard and Blvd, Street and St), you may want to add the Address Equivalents.
  • To help capture addresses where line breaks result in not being able to match the full contents of Address Line 1, you may want to use a set number of characters to match rather than to match on the full line.
  • If you find that you have too many decides, you may want to add First Name to the standard "Poor" set that requires Last Name and Zip/Postal Code.
