Being able to correct casing when users have typed in either all uppercase or all lower case is a helpful field setting, but there are times when a Last Name or a Surname should have a second capital letter.

To help, we have created a table of data transformations that you can use to help make these corrections when you download the attached file and import it to your Last Name/Surname field settings.

In order for this table to work, you do need to have the Text Casing set to Proper Case.

We have endeavoured to add as many combinations as possible for names that begin with either Mc or O', but you can certainly add to this list.  Make sure that you use the Match Type of 'Any' and the Replace Type of 'Partial.'

As always, you do need to review your data to correct any names that may not follow these patterns.  We have created a list of generalities that may not be correct in all situations.  To avoid changing existing names, you may find it helpful to untick the option to update this field for Existing Constituent records.
