Table based fields can certainly be used with Data Transformations, but as these fields require the selection of an existing code table entry as the Change to Target, some features are not available for use on these Data Transformations.


You can use most of the Match Types with Data Transformations. 'Exact', 'Word' and 'Any' will all function correctly, but 'Regex' will require a complete replacement rather than an append or a prepend.  Please see this article for more information regarding how the Match Types function.


Since you have to select a valid table entry, you will only be able to use the Replace Type of 'Complete'. You cannot add text to the beginning or the end of the field ('Append' and 'Prepend') and you cannot partially change the text ('Partial'). Please see this article regarding the Replace Types.


The Stop Processing option is not relevant when working with a Table based field as it allows multiple data changes to be made to the same field when working with Replace Types of 'Partial', 'Append' or 'Prepend'.


Catch All will allow users to select a default option for all records not meeting the criteria of the other transformations and works with Table based data fields.


For example, we may want to work with the Country field on an Address record.  We can use the Data Transformations to convert the entry of 'UK' to 'United Kingdom' and we have used the Catch All function to default all other records to the option of 'United States'.



In addition to linking text to complete table entries, we can also use settings on these Data Transformations to work with entries not found in the Code Table.


  • Attempt to Add New Table Entries - Will add new entries to your Code Tables. This will only add to Code Tables in Configuration and will not change areas such as Funds, Appeals, Campaigns or Events. You also much have the appropriate Raiser's Edge rights to do this.
  • Make Inactive Table Entries Active - Will re-activate code table entries that have been marked as inactive previously. This will only add to Code Tables in Configuration and will not change areas such as Funds, Appeals, Campaigns or Events. You also much have the appropriate Raiser's Edge rights to do this.
  • Ignore the Value - this option will ignore the text and leave the field blank.  If this is a required field, then you may still see an exception.
