As of Importacular version 4.5, there is no specific functionality that will allow you to only add solicitor records to new constituents, but you can achieve this through adding a few steps to your import process.
To begin, you will need a second copy of your template that does NOT include the Solicitor information.
- If you are working with a File, you can go to the top of your screen and click on Template and then Save Template As
- If you are working with another Data Source, you will need to go to Help, About Importacular, Advanced and then Manage Templates. Select your Template from the list and then click on Clone for File.Once you've cloned the template for use with a File, you will need to open that template and remove the Solicitor information.
- Now that you have two separate copies of your template (one with the Solicitor and one without), you can import. You will not need to create separate templates every time.
- Begin with the template that contains the Solicitor information. You will process this as usual until you reach the Review screen:
- On the Review screen, you'll use the Filter option (the green funnel in the center at the bottom of the screen shot shown below) to mark all of the records set to Update to be Ignored. This will send them to the Control Report (which we will use with the Template that does not have the Solicitor mappings).
- When you click on the Filter option, you'll see this:
- Now, you can mark all Update records as Ignore:
- This will allow you to import only the new constituents in the first import and assign them a Solicitor.
- Once you have completed that import, you will link the Control Report with all of the records that you ignored (since they were marked as Update) to the template that does not have solicitor information so that they are imported without that mapping.
