If your Importacular import is slower than you would like (click here to read more detail regarding speed), here are a few tips that can help you speed up the process.

1) If working with a gift import, use the options in Area Settings to import directly rather than to import to batch (available in version 4.4 and higher) and also choose to "always import gift" rather "only import gift if it does not match an existing gift" if you know you are importing all new gifts.

2) Remove blank columns or excess columns in your file.  An extremely large file can cause your import to run slowly.

3) Consider importing during times when there are fewer users on your internet (particularly when Blackbaud hosted and/or linking to other integrated data sources).

4) Divide your larger import file into smaller options.

5) Other factors that can affect your speed include your Criteria Sets (particularly if limiting to a certain query), so check your Criteria sets to see if there are extra conditions that you don't need for accurate matching. For example, by default there are four criteria sets. If your incoming data does not contain constituent id, then remove that criteria set. The fewer criteria sets the faster the lookup will go.  If your data source contains the Constituent ID, you may want to remove all other criteria sets and rely on that alone for matching.

6) Review your RE security settings (such as those limited by Constituent Codes) as that can slow your processing down.

7) If self hosted, consider when your server and internal systems have the most traffic and import during a slower time. Check with IT to see if they can help you speed up your import.

8) Make sure that you are only working with the Gift Mapping fields that you actually need.  Selecting an option with fields that do not relate to your Gift Type can slow down your import or cause unnecessary exceptions.
