Most fields in RE are either plain text or a dropdown. There are some exceptions like the look up value such as fund, campaign and appeal etc. These are all relatively straightforward to map to and import through Importacular.

Addressee and Salutations are slightly different. There are two types of values for each of these fields. They can follow a pattern or they can be edited.

If they follow a pattern the you select the pattern from the dropdown so that RE will construct the addressee or salutation (addsal for short) based on this pattern. For example you may have a pattern which is described as:

[Title] [First name] [Last name] [Suffix] or

[First name] and [Spouse First name] [Last name].

Each of these patterns have a corresponding id value which can be found if you run a report of addsals on the addsal configuration area of RE.

When importing addsals into RE you can specify the ids in the import file and map to the corresponding field in RE. This assumes that they may be different for each constituent being imported. If they do not vary between constituent but your organization uses the same pattern for addressees and the same pattern for salutations then you can simply select a value from the defaults column. The dropdown shows how they would appear in the case of the example constituents "William and Margaret Smith". Of course these names are just taken to show you how the predefined patterns would appear but will differ when accounting for the actual constituent names. This is the same list that is used in RE Configuration under the Addressees and Salutations area.

This setup is shown in the example below:

As of version 3.0 it is now possible to add addressee and salutation values that are edited. On the constituent record it is possible to check the editable check box and update the addressee and salutation value to a custom value. When importing these values should be mapped against the  "Primary Addressee (Editable text)" field or against the "Primary Salutation (Editable text)". The text would normally be mapped against the source column fields as shown below.

The result would then be imported into RE with the editable check box checked.
