You can improve the 'Validation' of your template by adding a Dummy record via Applications Settings. 'Validation' is an approximation of what will happen when you import your data, using the template you have built. By adding a 'Dummy' record, it allows Importacular to attached certain aspects of your template to a live record in your database to expand the scope of the 'approximation'. Changes to the 'dummy' record are temporary and unnoticeable.
A good example of why adding a 'Dummy' record is useful is if you are adding Gifts to a Gift Batch. If you have 'new' records in your import, Validation will only show you how many Gifts will be added to the Gift Batch, if the records exist already. New records will not be recorded in the Gift Batch summary field without a Dummy record.
To do add a Dummy record, first make sure such a record exists in your RE. Next, within Importacular, go to File and then Application Settings.

On the General tab, select a Constituent.
